A story of wondows
上海は植民地時代に様々な海外の文化を受け入れ、そしてそれらの歴史が今の上海の街を形成してきた。上海の街を歩くとそのような歴史を感じさせる要素が街の中で多く発見することができる。 この作品では上海の日常風景の中にある住宅の「窓」について考察した。上海には今も植民地時代からそのまま使われている「公寓/アパート」がある。集合して建っているアパートは、表向きには様子はうかがえないが、一歩その敷地内に入ってみると、ゆっくりと流れる時間が存在している。窓からは料理をしている音、テレビの音、話し声が聞こえ、そこに住む人々の生活を感じる。 急速に現代化する街は、古いものを排除し、新しいものを躊躇なく出現させる。すでに多くの古い「公寓/アパート」は解体され姿を消している。 現代的に変容した大都市は、世界の他の大都市と何ら変わらない姿をしている。私が通り過ぎた窓から聞こえてきた音や匂い、外から内へ通る風は、過去から今に続く人々の日常生活の一部であり、窓は生活の内側と外側をつなぐ存在として表情を見せながら存在していた。
Shanghai had accepted various cultures from overseas during the colonial era, and their histories have formed the city of current Shanghai. When you walk through the city of Shanghai, you may be able to discover a lot of elements that make you feel such the city histories. This piece is considered a "window" of a house in the everyday landscape in Shanghai. There are "公寓 / apartments" that people still use since the colonial era in shanghai. Such apartment buildings are gathered and built not be facing a street. But once you step into the premises, there is a slow-flowing time. You can hear the sound of cooking, the music of the television, the talking voice from a window and feel the daily life of people who are living there. The city which rapidly modernizes eliminates old things and makes new things show up without hesitation. Many classic "公寓/apartments" have already been demolished and disappeared. The modernly transformed metropolis has no differences from other big cities in the world. The sound, smell that I felt from a window I passed and wind come into the room from outside are parts of residents' life that continue from the past to the present. "Windows" exist with the expression as connects the outside of their daily life.
